New operational product available : L4 Root zone soil moisture

New daily Level 4 global Root Zone Soil Moisture (L4RZSM) product derived from the SMOS surface soil moisture are now operationally produced. They are generated based on the algorithm and processor developed by the CESBIO Soil Moisture Expertise Center (CEC-SM).

A reprocessing will be programmed shortly to produce the consistent 10 years L4 RZSM dataset from SMOS and will replace the scientific product with the latest processing version. The scientific dataset from 2010 to the end of January 2020 is currently available at: ftp://ext-catds-cecsm:catds2010@ftp.ifremer.fr/Land_products/L4_Root_Zone_Soil_Moisture/MIR_CLF4RD/

This product contains the RZSM (m3/m3) representative of the 0-1 m depth of the soil. It contains also a quality index taking into account the presence of Radio Frequency Interference (RFI), low quality of retrieval of the input surface soil moisture, and a high fraction of non-nominal surfaces. The product L4RZSM product is provided like the L3 products over the Global Cylindrical EASE v2 25 km using the WGS 84 ellipsoid.
