Updated version of L4 Root zone soil moisture and L4 Agricultural drought
The updated datasets (version 301) of the CATDS L4 Root zone soil moisture and the CATDS L4 Agricultural drought are now available.
The dataset now covers the period from Jan 2010 to Feb 2020.
The CATDS L4 Root Zone Soil Moisture is representative of the first meter of the soil. It is obtained by assimilating the surface soil moisture into a twin layer water budget model taking into account the soil texture. The soil texture is used to determine the field capacity and the hydrodynamic transfer function of the soil. The root zone is a weighted average of the two layers’ soil moisture expressed in m3/m3. A quality index is also provided. The CATDS L4 Agricultural Drought contains now two informations:
- the anomalies of root zone soil moisture which shows dry (-2 - 0) and wet (0 to +2) conditions.
- the surplus/deficit of root zone soil moisture expressed in m3/m3.
In the previous dataset ascending and descending products were delivered. Now only one consistent dataset is made available.
